Meet Our Chairman
Tom Browne
Tom has led an eventful and varied life from the two years as a soldier to managing a fruit farm in British Columbia, where he had the good fortune to meet his wife, and then managing fruit growers’ co-operatives in Norfolk. A Silver medal award winner from the Worshipful Company of Fruiterers he retains a keen interest in horticulture. On retirement there were two short stints of agricultural reconstruction aid in Poland and post war Bosnia. Following that, a spell as a Cell Visitor and then many years as a volunteer with the Princes Trust helping to run courses for young people and mentoring their start in a new life.
Tom is well aware of life’s ups and downs having started in Canada living in a cabin miles from anywhere. Having worked with those who didn’t make it in life he is a great believer in young people realising their potential . The Raveningham Community and Enterprise Trust is there to provide that extra bit of encouragement to get lives moving . His belief is ‘ You are only young once so make the best of it.’
Likes: Realistic optimism. Dislikes: Gloomy pessimism.
